The Workshop
The Third Workshop on Aromatic Foldamers was held on April 21st – 22nd 2022 at The University of Leeds, Leeds, UK
Like the first two workshops, in Philadelphia (June 2016), and Seoul (March 2019) this Workshop was a specialized event. Aside from peptidic & nucleotidic foldamers, aromatic foldamers – foldamers with aryl rings in their main chain – represent a distinct grouping. Many of the aromatic backbones and folding patterns described in the literature would be compatible if combined in hybrid sequences. The purpose of this workshop will be to share the latest developments and applications, but also to exchange ideas and experiences regarding practical aspects such as synthetic methodologies and analytical or computational tools and, possibly in the future, the construction of databases.
This workshop took place as a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual participants including 24 academic group leaders. The workshop took place over 2 days with all project leaders giving an informal forward-looking oral presentation together with round table discussions on the topics highlighted above with the objective to identify/define new horizons and define the roadmap for this field.
